  • Scoutmaster/Assistant Scoutmaster Leader Specific Training – This course (sometimes referred to as Boy Scout Leader Specifics) is the one of the two courses that every new troop leader must take to properly serve their scouts.  It addresses the following topics: the role of the Scoutmaster in a boy-led troop; the outdoor program and the advancement program; and program planning and troop administration.  Those who should take this training are: Scouters already serving as Scoutmasters or Assistant Scoutmasters, who are not yet trained; Scouters expecting to serve as Scoutmasters or Assistant Scoutmasters in the near future, such as Webelos Den Leaders and Assistant Webelos Den Leaders; and Scouters interested in learning more about Boy Scouting and how a troop runs, such as committee chairs and committee members; 17 year-old scouts expecting be become Assistant Scoutmasters in the future.  The course will be offered over two afternoons, at each of the weeks camp is open (assuming we have adequate registrations) – note, leaders must attend both sessions to receive credit (no partials will be given).  So if you’re a new leader coming to camp with your troop, this is a great way to start your training.

There is no charge for these courses.  However, it is essential that we know in advance how many leaders intend to attend either of the sessions, so that we can plan appropriately.
